LIVIN' ROOM RADIO

The DJ session requirements. Read this in full before you record — your equipment matters, but your creativity, music selection and ability to create a vibe matter just as much.

The ten

WHAT YOU NEED TO RECORD

Quality Camera or Smartphone

A quality camera is required to capture your session. Clear, sharp footage that represents the Livin' Room Radio brand.

  • A modern digital camera capable of high-quality video
  • An up-to-date smartphone with strong video capabilities
  • Cinematic / portrait-style video strongly recommended
  • Minimum 1080p — 4K preferred when available
  • Enough storage for the complete recording

Stable Camera Setup

Your camera must remain stable throughout the session.

  • Tripod or phone tripod mount
  • Camera stand
  • Stable elevated surface when appropriate
  • Avoid handheld unless specifically requested

Mood & Ambient Lighting

Lighting sets the tone. Create a space that feels comfortable, intentional, stylish and reflective of your personality.

  • LED lights, lamps and RGB / mood lighting
  • Accent and soft lighting
  • Practical room lighting
  • Avoid pitch-black rooms where you or your gear can't be seen

Clean & Intentional Environment

Your environment becomes part of the session — make it a space people want to spend time in.

  • Clean room, organized equipment
  • Visually appealing background
  • Comfortable seating when appropriate
  • Decorations and personal touches, minimal clutter

Quality Table or DJ Surface

A sturdy, visually appealing surface that stays clean and organized on camera.

  • Holds your controller or turntables, laptop and audio gear
  • Room for cables and other necessary equipment
  • Stays clean and organized on camera

Professional DJ Equipment

Reliable equipment, tested before recording, capable of delivering a quality performance.

  • DJ controller or turntables
  • Laptop or music playback device
  • Headphones and audio cables
  • Power cables and a power strip / extension cord
  • Backup cables when possible

Quality Audio

Audio quality is just as important as video quality.

  • Reliable headphones and clean audio output
  • Properly connected equipment, no background noise
  • Proper gain levels — no clipping or distortion
  • A way to provide the final audio file when requested

A Good Ear for Music

Livin' Room Radio is about the music and the experience. You don't just DJ — you create a vibe.

  • Strong song selection and good transitions
  • Understanding of tempo and rhythm
  • Ability to build a musical journey
  • Creativity, personality and awareness of your audience

Creative Direction & Personal Style

We give the blueprint — your personality comes through in the final product.

  • Your music selection, lighting and room setup
  • Your wardrobe and camera angle
  • The story you want your session to tell

Storage & File Transfer

Keep enough storage to record the full session, and protect your originals.

  • Save and transfer the footage at full quality
  • Submit files by the requested deadline
  • Don't delete your original until the session is received and confirmed
